Droitwich Spa Heritage & Information Centre Expansion Plans
Droitwich Spa Heritage Centre and Droitwich Spa Town Council are currently in the process of applying for funding through Wychavon Community Legacy Grants.
We are hoping to secure funds to expand and update the Droitwich Spa Heritage & Information Centre to give it a new lease of life. The centre was opened in St Richards House in 1990 and is now looking tired. The Salt Museum is congested and outdated. It is in need of reinterpretation to make it more accessible, inviting and interesting to a wider audience.
The 'Droitwich Calling' exhibition or 'Radio Room' as it is more affectionately known, is hidden down an uninviting corridor and doorway. It is very overcrowded and the stories which we are trying to tell have become lost. This exhibition space needs streamlining and artefacts need to be cherry picked in order to focus the narrative of the space on the Wychbold Transmitting station and tell the story of 'Droitwich in the Dial'.
Our Vision
- For visitors of all generations and cultures to connect to the history of Droitwich in an enjoyable and engaging way.
- To be a welcoming, multi-sensory experience.
- Update the layout of the center to improve the visitor journey and maximise usable space.
- To create a temporary exhibition space, which can be used by community groups.
- Provide comprehensive information to tourists and local residents.
We want to hear from you, in order to shape our vision!
